 Commentary

The Arts In New Jersey

Right now the Arts in New Jersey are coming under siege.

Many schools are suspending and ultimately ending many of their arts programs because of budget cuts, and because of our current economic crisis, it is significantly impacting on the Restaurants and Nite Clubs in New Jersey that have entertainment.

It is important that we be pro-active in supporting the arts here in New Jersey.

We must tell our elected officials and County & Local school board officials that it is not ok to cut the arts. That in cutting arts programs from their curriculums our children will not have an understanding of art and culture in our society. Participating in art and music classes teaches children to make good judgments, solve problems and celebrate multiple perspectives. It strengthens the learning environment and provides the spark that keeps some students coming to school.

Then you have those venues that are struggling to stay open and have entertainment, serving the public need.  They can only stay open with the support of people like you who visit the many performance  venues in this State that have "Live" entertainment.

So please support the arts and "live" entertainment throughout this State and celebrate it in your schools and local venues.
